Independent parliamentary candidate Captain Towani Chipeta has scooped the Chasefu North seat after beating her closest rival with a commanding margin of 5,038 votes.

Chipeta obtained 9,698 votes while her UPND counterpart, Victor Muyumba, polled 4,660 votes.

In the past years, she drilled and equipped 31 boreholes across Chasefu District.

She also provided essential medicines to all health facilities in the constituency.

Chipeta paid tribute to the people of Chasefu North for their unwavering trust and support during the campaign.

She noted that the victory belonged not to her but to every resident who believed in her vision.

Chipeta advanced that her priority would be to complete all pending water and health projects.

She said that she would work with all stakeholders regardless of their political affiliation.

Chipeta affirmed that her administration would uphold transparency and accountability in public office.

She emphasised that development could only thrive where there was unity and peace.

Total votes cast stood at 17,830, with 727 ballots rejected.

The returning officer declared the results peacefully at the constituency counting centre.
