Job Description Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Technical Advisor – Electrical Control and Instrumentation – LEP (Fixed Term) to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by: Communicating Honestly, Transparently, and Acting with Integrity Exhibiting a Results-Driven approach Delivering solutions that are Fit for Purpose Dedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable Legacy Taking Responsibility and being Accountable Committing to Zero Harm Cultivating strong and meaningful Partnerships Reporting to the Lead – Electrical Control and Instrumentation, you will be responsible for ensuring all installations, commissioning, and testing adhere to project specifications, engineering standards, safety regulations, and statutory requirements. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Conduct daily inspections of Electrical, Control, Instrumentation and Communications installations across all project areas. Verify that all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality plans, and relevant standards. Monitor contractor workmanship and construction quality to ensure compliance with project requirements. Identify, document, and report installation deficiencies, non-conformances, deviations, and quality concerns. Ensure all corrective actions are implemented and verified prior to work acceptance. Verify that cable installations, cable terminations, gland installations, earthing systems, containment systems, instruments, control panels, substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and associated equipment are installed correctly. Inspect trenching, cable routing, cable pulling, cable support systems, and cable segregation requirements. Verify instrument installations, including mounting, impulse tubing, cable terminations, junction boxes, and field instrumentation compliance. Monitor construction activities associated with HV, MV and LV electrical systems. Ensure compliance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans (QCPs), and construction specifications. Participate in construction walkdowns, punch listing, pre-commissioning inspections, and commissioning readiness reviews. Assist in identifying latent defects and commissioning risks before system energisation. Review contractor quality records and verify completion of required inspection documentation. Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning activities as required. Maintain detailed site inspection records and prepare regular quality and progress reports. Support project handover activities by ensuring completeness and quality of turnover documentation. Promote a strong quality culture across all project execution teams. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Grade 12 School Certificate. Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Degree will be an added advantage Minimum 10 years in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) construction on mining, industrial, processing, power generation, or large infrastructure projects. Mining industry experience with greenfield/brownfield capital projects is required. EIZ membership Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and instrumentation. Proven experience with ABB & Siemens MV Switchgear; MV/LV VSDs for installation, configuration, and commissioning. Experience with Siemens PCS 7 DCS hardware, I/O, marshalling, and DCS networks, including industrial Ethernet and fibre optics. Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, cable schedules, termination drawings, and specs. Familiar with QA systems, inspection, punch listing, non-conformance management, electrical safety standards, and permit-to-work systems.
