GOVERNMENT DECLARES 1ST SEPTEMBER 2026 A PUBLIC HOLIDAY

The Government of the Republic of Zambia wishes to inform the public that Tuesday, 1st September 2026, has been declared a Public Holiday to facilitate the holding of the Swearing in Ceremony for the President elect and Vice President elect.



The Swearing in Ceremony will be held at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Tuesday, 1st September 2026, in accordance with the earlier announcement made on 25th August 2026.


In a statement issued to the media, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick K. Kangwa said the President has declared Tuesday, 1st September 2026, the day of the Swearing in Ceremony, as a Public Holiday.



The statement further advises all invitees to the ceremony to consider car pooling because of limited parking space.
