The Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities is a quasi-government agency established under Act No. 6 of 2012. It is mandated to plan, promote and coordinate services for persons with disabilities. The Agency invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the following position. Position: Provincial Coordinator (1) Department: Rehabilitation and Research Work station: Lusaka Province Reports to: Director Rehabilitation and Research Duration: Permanent and Pensionable MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plan, promote and coordinate services for persons with disabilities in the province. 2. Register persons with disabilities in the province. 3. Review applications from Organisations of and/or for Persons with Disabilities seeking Agency registration before onward submission to Head Office. 4. Conduct inquiries into matters relating to the welfare, employment, habilitation and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. 5. Monitor services to persons with disabilities and implementation of the Disability Act and relevant policies or national strategies. 6. Make representations on behalf of persons with disabilities before State organs or institutions, and facilitate legal assistance where a matter relates to their rights or interaction. 7. Promote public awareness of all aspects of disability. 8. Coordinate with government institutions on disability mainstreaming. 9. Facilitate submission of CVs of persons with disabilities to the Rehabilitation and Research Department for inclusion in the database. 10. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports. 11. Inspect institutions to ensure adequate arrangements for the general welfare, education, training, rehabilitation, health or employment of persons with disabilities, and ensure records are kept. 12. Ensure service providers establish necessary facilities to make services available and accessible to persons with disabilities in the prescribed manner. 13. Collect statistical data from relevant institutions on disability issues for planning, promotion, administration, monitoring and evaluation of services, as advised. 14. Facilitate preparation and coordination of commemorations of disability calendar days. 15. Supervise staff at provincial and district levels. 16. Maintain the provincial establishment register of all employees. 17. Manage the inventory of all Agency assets in the province and update the asset register regularly. 18. Facilitate procurement of title deeds for all Agency properties. 19. Maintain and file all books of accounts. 20. Carry out other duties assigned by superiors. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Grade 12 or GCE certificate, ZAQA certified. • Degree in Social Work or a related Social Sciences field, ZAQA certified. • Two years’ work experience. • Experience in counselling and working with persons with disabilities is an added advantage. OTHER ATTRIBUTES • Excellent knowledge of and sensitivity to issues affecting persons with disabilities. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Strong writing skills in project proposal development.
