Zambia Airways 2024 Limited is seeking a suitably qualified individual for the position of Pilot – Q400 First Officer. Position: Pilot – Q400 First Officer Category: Aviation Location: Lusaka, Zambia Employment Type: Full Time Salary: Negotiable Phone: +260 950 692990 Job Purpose The Q400 First Officer will assist the Captain in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft while ensuring adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards. Summary of Key Responsibilities: Assist the Captain in the safe and efficient operation of the Q400 aircraft. Attend and actively participate in pre-flight briefings and flight preparation activities. Review flight plans, weather information, NOTAMs, dispatch releases, and operational documentation before departure. Perform normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures in accordance with company SOPs and aircraft operating manuals. Monitor aircraft systems, navigation performance, and flight progress throughout all phases of flight. Maintain effective communication with Air Traffic Control, Flight Dispatch, Ground Operations, and Cabin Crew. Verify take-off and landing performance calculations and support the Captain in operational decision-making. Record and report aircraft defects and system malfunctions in accordance with company procedures. Ensure compliance with all company policies, aviation regulations, and safety requirements. Promote a strong safety culture, professionalism, teamwork, and excellent customer service. Primary Areas of Accountability: Qualification and Experience License – CPL (Commercial Pilot License) held or Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) Minimum Instrument Rating (IR) – Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) valid. Flight Experience – Minimum 200 flight hours Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) or Crew Resource Management (CRM) – MCC or CRM course completed (mandatory for FO in multi-pilot operations). Medical Certificate – Unrestricted ICAO Class 1 Medical valid. Language Proficiency – Minimum ICAO Level 4 Previous experience operating in a multi-crew environment. Proven Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills. Knowledge of ZCAA regulations and ICAO standards. Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated commitment to safety and professionalism. Proven experience operating within African and regional airspace.
