Zambia : Edward Chilufya Moves To Israel On Loan

Chipolopolo midfielder Edward Chilufya has joined Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Jerusalem FC on a season-long loan deal from Danish Superliga club FC Midtjyllan.

Both Hapoel Jerusalem and Chilufya separately confirmed the deal on Monday afternoon.

Chilufya, 26, remains contracted to Midtjylland on a permanent deal that runs until 31 December 2028.

In a statement, Hapoel Jerusalem announced: “Edward Chilufya joins Hapoel. The 26-year-old winger from Zambia has a rich career in top Scandinavian teams. He is coming to us on loan for the season.”

Posting on his Facebook page, Chilufya expressed excitement about the move.

“I’m delighted to join Hapoel Jerusalem on loan and I’m looking forward to embracing this new challenge, working hard, and giving my best for the club,” he wrote.

“Thank you to everyone at FC Midtjylland for their continued support. I’m excited for what lies ahead and ready to get to work. New league. New challenge. Same ambition,” he added.

Chilufya, a product of Mpande Academy in Kasama, has been campaigning in Europe for nearly 10 years.

He started training with Swedish side Djurgården in June 2017 and signed his first professional contract with the club on 15 February 2018.

After Djurgården, he moved to Denmark where he has been with Midtjylland.
