Role Overview for Litigation Manager Jobs in Kitwe Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Litigation Manager will lead all litigation and debt recovery activities. The role requires a seasoned legal professional with a strong background in managing complex litigation, coordinating external counsel, enforcing security interests, and developing effective legal recovery strategies that align with the company’s profitability and risk management goals. Key Responsibilities Litigation Management: Develop and execute litigation and recovery strategies, manage the litigation portfolio, oversee court proceedings related to debt recovery, contract enforcement, repossessions, insolvency, and commercial disputes, and ensure compliance with procedural timelines. Debt Recovery & Enforcement: Lead legal debt recovery efforts, maximize recoveries on delinquent loans, oversee enforcement of judgments and guarantees, and provide strategic guidance on high-risk accounts. Legal Advisory & Risk Management: Act as the principal legal advisor on regulatory and operational matters, assess and mitigate legal risks, provide opinions on contracts and lending transactions, and support regulatory investigations and dispute resolution. Contract & Documentation Management: Review, draft, negotiate, and approve legal documents ensuring protection of company interests and compliance with legislation. Compliance & Governance: Monitor legal and regulatory developments, ensure adherence to laws and internal policies, and assist in strengthening governance frameworks. Reporting & Leadership: Prepare monthly litigation and recovery reports, maintain accurate legal case records, mentor junior staff, and develop departmental policies and standards. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution. Advocate of the High Court of Zambia with a valid Practicing Certificate. Membership in good standing with the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ). Minimum of five years post-admission experience in litigation, debt recovery, commercial or banking law, preferably within financial services. Proven experience managing complex litigation and debt recovery portfolios. Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, debt recovery mechanisms, banking and commercial law, and corporate governance. Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems. Valid Class B Driver’s Licence. Competencies Strong leadership and decisive decision-making skills.
