JVChantete is seeking a competent and proactive Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Superintendent to support the implementation and monitoring of occupational health and safety standards across its operations. The successful candidate will promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with legal and company requirements. Reports to: Site ManagerSite: Kalumbila Job Summary The HSE Superintendent will develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental management systems to promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and standards. Identify workplace hazards and implement control measures. Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, emissions, dust, noise, and water quality. Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental events. Develop and monitor corrective and preventive action plans. Prepare investigation reports and communicate findings. Conduct risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses. Conduct HSE inductions for employees and contractors. Develop and maintain emergency response plans. Maintain HSE permits, licenses, and regulatory records and liaise with regulators. Ensure contractor compliance with company HSE requirements. Develop and monitor HSE KPIs and supervise HSE Officers. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent. Lead Auditor certification in ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 is an advantage. At least 5-8 years of HSE experience, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy industry. Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience implementing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems. Proven experience in incident investigations, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent knowledge of HSE legislation and standards. Risk assessment and hazard identification skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
