About the Role – General Practitioner Jobs in Lusaka As a General Practitioner at Lusaka West Medical Center, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality medical services. Your responsibilities will focus on accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and timely referrals, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, uphold ethical standards, and actively pursue continuous professional development. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient history taking, clinical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment in line with medical standards. Respond promptly to medical emergencies presenting at the facility. Prescribe medications responsibly and promote the rational use of pharmaceuticals. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, leveraging support services such as Laboratory, Radiology, and Physiotherapy effectively. Refer patients to specialists or consultants when necessary, coordinating comprehensive patient management plans. Maintain accurate, confidential, and detailed medical records. Supervise and mentor clinical and support staff as applicable. Participate actively in ward rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Promote preventive healthcare and educate patients on disease management, trauma care, and lifestyle modifications. Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professionalism, and patient confidentiality at all times. Stay updated on medical advancements, emerging treatments, and clinical best practices. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 Certificate. Medical degree such as MB ChB, MBBS, MD, or equivalent. Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) post-internship. Valid practicing license is mandatory. Prior clinical experience in a private hospital setting is advantageous. Strong diagnostic, clinical, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. High integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Proficiency in computer use and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
