JOB DETAILS: Lusaka West Medical Center is a soon to open private health facility in Lusaka looking to recruit a dynamic individual to fill the position of General Practitioner. Job Description: We are looking for a dedicated General Practitioner to join our dynamic clinical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centred medical care, ensuring accurate diagnosis of common ailments, effective treatment, and timely referrals where necessary. The ideal candidate should demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong ethical standards, and a commitment to continuous professional development. Responsibilities Attend to patients by conducting thorough history taking, clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with established medical standards. Respond promptly and efficiently to medical emergencies presenting to the health facility. Prescribe medications responsibly and ensure the rational use of pharmaceuticals. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and utilize available support services (Laboratory, Radiology, Physiotherapy, etc.) appropriately. Refer patients to specialists or consultants when necessary and coordinate patient management plans. Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential medical records. Supervise and mentor clinical and support staff where applicable. Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Promote preventive healthcare and patient education on disease and trauma management in addition to lifestyle modification. Observe strict medical ethics, professionalism, and patient confidentiality at all times. Keep abreast of medical advancements, emerging treatments, and clinical best practices. Qualifications Grade 12 Certificate. MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), MD or equivalent. Prior clinical experience in a private hospital setting will be an added advantage. Fully registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) – Post Internship. Must possess a valid practicing license. Strong diagnostic, clinical, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Computer literate and able to work effectively in an electronic medical records environment. Reporting Line The General Practitioner will report directly to the Executive Director of the Medical Center.
