Position: Biomedical Engineering Technologist / Medical Engineering Technologist Company: Enigma Pharmaceuticals Limited Location: Lusaka Employment Type: Part-Time Application Deadline: 14th July 2026 Job Summary We are looking for a qualified and experienced Biomedical Engineering Technologist / Medical Engineering Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, calibration, servicing, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment and biomedical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation within healthcare facilities. The role requires strong technical knowledge of medical devices, good troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with healthcare professionals, suppliers, and maintenance teams. Key Responsibilities Install, test, calibrate, maintain, and repair medical and laboratory equipment. Conduct routine preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults and recommend corrective action. Maintain accurate service records, maintenance schedules, and equipment history files. Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements. Support commissioning and acceptance testing of new medical equipment. Train clinical users on proper use, care, and basic troubleshooting of medical equipment. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency service requests. Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers for technical support, spare parts, and warranty claims. Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, and service documentation. Support inventory management of medical equipment, tools, spare parts, and consumables. Ensure adherence to infection prevention, occupational health, and safety procedures. Minimum Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in servicing, maintaining, or installing medical equipment. Experience working in a hospital, medical equipment company, laboratory, or healthcare environment will be an added advantage. Knowledge of medical equipment safety standards and preventive maintenance procedures. Required Skills and Competencies Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Good knowledge of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and biomedical systems. Ability to read technical manuals, circuit diagrams, and service documentation. Good communication and report-writing skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office and equipment management systems. High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
