About the Role – Assistant Fencing Jobs in Solwezi Reporting to the Team Leader within the Risk & Asset Management Department, the Assistant, Fencing plays a vital role in maintaining the security and integrity of the mine lease perimeter fence and offsite properties. This position involves routine inspections, minor repairs, bush clearing, and cold burning activities to safeguard our assets and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular inspections of the mine lease perimeter fence to detect damages, vulnerabilities, or security threats. Perform minor repairs such as straightening fence posts, replacing wires, and reinforcing damaged sections. Maintain fencing infrastructure on offsite mine properties to uphold security compliance. Report breaches, vandalism, or unauthorized access promptly to the Team Leader. Assist with corrective actions to prevent recurrence of security incidents. Carry out bush clearing and create fire breaks along fence lines to improve visibility and reduce risks. Operate or support the use of bush-clearing equipment, including brush cutters and slashers. Dispose of vegetation responsibly, following environmental and safety guidelines. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Report hazards, environmental risks, and incidents without delay. Maintain tools and equipment properly to ensure operational readiness. Provide timely progress updates and communicate challenges or material needs to supervisors. Qualifications and Experience Minimum Grade 12 Certificate, with academic qualifications verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). At least 2 years of practical experience in fencing installation and maintenance. Proven skills in cold burning and bush clearing activities. Desired Behavioural Traits Ability to initiate tasks and achieve results efficiently. Capable of working effectively under pressure.
