The Zambia National Service (ZNS) and FRA are said to be involved in a reconciliation dispute over the K3.3 billion they are said to have been issued by the agency, amid information the former argues the commodity supplied to them was significantly lower.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile charged that delays in payments to farmers and the purchase of maize were linked to what he termed as a “criminal enterprise” involving Parliament speakers, senior government officials, former ministers, members of parliament and UPND cadres who allegedly siphoned public funds through Eagle Milling.

Mundubile said that a number of UPND officials, including individuals occupying high-ranking public positions, fraudulently obtained mealie meal through Eagle Milling, which he alleged had been established to benefit party cadres.

Meanwhile, his running-mate Makebi Zulu questioned the ownership structure of Eagle Milling, arguing that General Maliti Solochi’s role as a director raised concerns, as he believed state institutions should ordinarily be represented by the Minister of Finance.

However, senior sources in the UPND familiar with the matter, say it was true that ZNS has an outstanding ‘unreconciled’ balance of approximately K200 million with the Food Reserve Agency (FRA), with the service having made payment of K3
