Economist Highvie H. Hamududu says Zambians were “mean” to President Hakainde Hichilema at the polls, arguing that the President deserved more than 75 percent of the vote based on what he described as the economic transformation recorded under his administration.

Speaking on Prime TV’s Matters Arising with Paul Shingongo, Hamududu said the economy inherited in 2021 was in a difficult position but has since undergone a significant turnaround.

He pointed to economic growth, the reduction in inflation, debt restructuring and improved economic stability as key indicators of the transformation.

Hamududu said Zambia’s economic progress could now serve as a case study in the SADC region.
