Copper Queens forward Rachael Kundananji says she is unfazed by not scoring as Zambia thumped Egypt 6-0 in their opening Group C match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday night at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

‎Captain Barbra Banda scored four goals, with debutant Eneless Phiri and experienced player Rachael Nachula adding the others.
‎
‎In a post-match comment, Kundananji said Zambia’s win was more important than personal milestones.
‎
‎“You know there is a win, there are three points. Whether assist or no assist there are three points for Team Zambia. We are one team,” Kundananji said.
‎
‎“Scoring six goals in a game is not easy. It shows that working together as a team made it possible,” she added.
‎
‎She said the Copper Queens will remain focused as WAFCON advances.
‎
‎“We are in a tough group and scoring many goals is important and we are focused. We just want to do our best. We know what we want to achieve at this WAFCON,” Kundananji said.
‎
‎Zambia’s next Group C match will be against Nigeria on 1st August, while Egypt will face Malawi.
‎
‎The top four semifinalists at WAFCON will earn automatic qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
‎
‎The Copper Queens are aiming to better their 2022 WAFCON bronze medal achievement won under the late coach Bruce Mwape.
