Over 1000 Farmers are expected to benefit from the distribution of farming inputs under the Wetlands Farming Programme in Mbala District of Northern province.

Mbala District Community Development Officer, Theresa Nsakashalo, has disclosed that some of the farming inputs under the programme have since been delivered.

She revealed that the department has received all of its allocated D-Compound fertiliser and white maize seed for distribution to beneficiaries.

Ms Nsakashalo indicated that the remaining inputs yet to be received are 1,050 50-kilogram bags of urea top-dressing fertiliser and 1,050 25-kilogram bags of agricultural lime, which will complete the allocation under the Wetlands Farming Programme.

“Government is on course to ensure all farming inputs are delivered on time, and I can reveal that all the allocated D- Compound Fertiliser, and Maize seed have been delivered.

“1,050 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the programme, and hope that this will not just improve food security in communities but also livelihoods of the people,” she added.
