By Chief Editor September 6, 2026 FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsAppEconomic Front President Wynter Kabimba has appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema to consider assembling a more action-oriented cabinet as he begins his second term in office.
Speaking to Phoenix News ahead of President Hichilema’s official announcement of his cabinet, Kabimba said he expected the President to appoint a team of ministers who would perform better than those in his previous administration.
The Economic Front strongman is definitely on point. As a matter of fact, this measure shouldn’t just stop at Cabinet level. It should be extended Permanent Secretaries and District Commissioners.
In his previous administration, we had a number of officials who either priotised private jobs or had a laissez faire approach towards work. They never bothered venturing into the field to investigate whether government policies were being implemented accordingly.
As Kabimba has rightly observed, the President deserves a stronger team to help him fulfil the commitments he made to the Zambian people during his campaigns.
The President needs to assemble a team of the likes of ZNS commander Lt. Gen. Maliti Solochi. The man is action-oriented…..he has hands on approach towards work. Whenever there’s an assignment to be undertaken within his jurisdiction, he doesn’t leave the responsibility at the mercy of his juniors. You’ll find him ‘pa ground’ supervising the work himself or getting soiled.
Some PSs and DCs are not even known by the masses as they are always closed-up in their deluxe offices enjoying tea with cookies! Only a few such as the likes of Elvis Nkandu and Thabo Kawana easily stand out as their work speak for themselves.
With more challenges expected in the years to come such as youth unemployment, the El Nino factor or food shortages, we expect the President to take his time to identify individuals who are easily going to align themselves with his vision for the country. As for you job seekers, a little patience would definitely do😊
We submit…..
