President Hichilema has further assured that the government will complete the Lusitu irrigation project to enhance agriculture productivity.
Addressing thousands of Chirundu residents during a community engagement at Boom ground, Mr Hichilema urged the people to vote for the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) in the August 13 General Elections for continued peace, sustained social protection programmes and wider development.
“Vote for peace, free education, and expansion of Social Cash Transfer (SCT) to allow for the initiation of more beneficiaries and wider development.
“We will construct an ultra-modern district hospital with matching state of the art equipment and employ qualified health personnel,” Mr Hichilema said.
He stated that once re-elected on August 13, government will build houses for civil servants in Chirundu and upgrade township roads to bituminous standards.
The Head of State also directed for the recruitment of all volunteer health workers in the district and urged for calm among other prospective employees, stating that their turn is coming.
He added that his administration will also prioritise the rebuilding of the Chirundu border to improve the movement of goods and create more jobs, once re-elected.
Mr Hichilema also observed that the kwacha is the best performing currency among other convertible currencies and advised the people of Chirundu to vote for him and all UPND adopted candidates to maintain the momentum.
President Hichilema said the UPND must win big in the forthcoming polls and urged people not to split votes but vote for the ruling party.
“The president requires a dedicated team in order to deliver. Therefore, vote suit for UPND for continued effective service delivery. Don’t waste your vote on opposition or independent candidates. Voting for opposition or independent would be ominous,” he underscored.
And UPND Alliance partner and PF President, Miles Sampa, has condemned a named opposition party for using the late former President Edgar Lungu as a campaign tool.
“I’m shocked that some opposition party yesterday had the audacity to put the former late President Edgar Lungu on display in a campaign move. This is un-Zambian and must be condemned,” Mr Sampa said.
