The Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship (DNRPC) in Lavushimanda district of Muchinga Province is implementing digital civil registration, a government exercise that commenced in 2022.

Lavushimanda District National Registration Officer Kasapo Musonda urged members of the public to fully participate in the registration exercise.

Mr Musonda explained that the department has registered over 3,000 children under the age of five in the last four months.

He encouraged the public to register their children, obtain digital identification for adults and secure death certificates, noting that the exercise is continuous.

“We want to urge the general public in Lavushimanda to take advantage of this very important national exercise,” he said.

Mr Musonda further explained that the exercise is being implemented through the Integrated National Registration Information System (INRIS).

He said INRIS was deployed to 26 District National Registration Offices across the country in March 2022 to ensure that all districts are connected.

Mr Musonda, however, said that to ensure the public is adequately informed about the exercise, the department is working with the Ministry of Health in the district to engage local communities through Environmental Health Departments (EHDs).
