The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced that ballot papers for the August 13, 2026 General Elections are expected to start arriving in the country on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager, Patricia Luhanga, says the ballot papers will arrive aboard a chartered aircraft from Dubai through the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka at 12:15 hours.

Ms Luhanga adds that the consignments will arrive on six scheduled flights, with one flight expected daily at 12:15 hours from Sunday, July 26 to Friday, July 31, 2026.

She states that verification of the ballot papers by stakeholders will commence on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the ECZ Silverest Warehouse in Lusaka starting at 10:00 hours.

Ms Luhanga says registered political parties, civil society organisations, faith-based organisations and the media are invited to witness the verification process.

She indicates that all stakeholders and media personnel wishing to witness or cover the ballot paper verification exercise must first obtain accreditation from the commission.

Ms Luhanga said accreditation is currently underway at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

And the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has explained that it will ensure all its stakeholders were fully aware of the dispatch process of the printed material to enhance the transparency and integrity of the electoral process.

Speaking when she addressed stakeholders in Dubai today, ECZ Commissioner, Ndiyoyi Mutiti, said it was the duty of the commission to uphold its integrity throughout the printing journey of the ballot papers.

“Since you are our key stakeholders, the delivery list of the ballot papers will be given to you including those others back home,” she said.

Meanwhile, the commission says it has not yet made a decision regarding the Lumezi North parliamentary seat which was affected by the demise of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity Party (NRPUP) candidate Moses Mwale.

Ambassador Mutiti said the commission will soon update the nation on the next course of action regarding the said issue.

The ECZ Commissioner was reacting to concerns from stakeholders in Dubai.

Over 30 million papers have been printed and are ready for dispatch to Zambia by air through a chartered plane.

Some ballot papers for parliamentary seats which went unopposed will not be printed, including for Lumezi North in Eastern Province.
