The traditional leader says the country has experienced improved political tolerance since 2021, allowing citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear of harassment by political cadres.
“We acknowledge that the UPND government has brought sanity and freedom to all Zambians. Citizens are now able to conduct their businesses without fear of harassment by political cadres. This is how the country ought to be governed,” he says.
Chief Kalunga also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the ongoing election campaigns, noting that no incidents of political violence had been recorded in his chiefdom.
“To date, there have been no reports of violence during the ongoing campaigns in my chiefdom. We have only heard of isolated incidents along the line of rail and these are not as prevalent as they were in the past,” he said.
He further said the country has witnessed significant infrastructure development under President Hichilema’s administration, citing the construction of classroom blocks, health posts, maternity annexes and the local production of school desks over the past five years.
Chief Kalunga also commended the government for the recent delimitation of Kabompo Constituency into two constituencies, saying the move would accelerate development and improve service delivery to the people.
The traditional leader said the developmental achievements had strengthened public confidence in the current administration.
Chief Kalunga has also assured President Hichilema of his support in the August 13, 2026 General Elections.
“We, therefore, want to assure the President and the UPND of our support so that government can continue implementing the development programmes that have benefited our people,” he said.
Chief Kalunga said this through his representative, Chivueka Traditional Ceremony National Chairperson, Jonas Lumbala, during the 2026 Chivueka Traditional ceremony in Kabompo District yesterday.
