The packages — which included exercise books, pens, pencils, crayons and colouring books — were distributed to partner couriers as a gesture of appreciation and to help ease the preparations that come with the start of a new school year.
Recognising the people behind every delivery
Partner couriers are a vital part of the Yango Food ecosystem, connecting customers with restaurants and businesses across Lusaka every day. Through this initiative, Yango Food sought to recognise their contribution while extending that support to the families behind them.
“Our partner couriers are an important part of the Yango Food ecosystem, and we are always looking for meaningful ways to recognise their contribution,” said Kabanda Chewe, Country Head, Yango Zambia. “As families prepare for a new school term, we want to offer something practical that could make a real difference. Education is central to building opportunities for the future, and we hope these packages make the back-to-school period a little easier for every family receiving them.”
The sentiment was echoed by Yango Food partner courier Masauso Mbewe, who described the initiative as both practical and motivating.
“I am very grateful to Yango Food for thinking about us and our families. These school materials will be very helpful as our children prepare to go back to school. It is encouraging to know that the people behind the deliveries are also being thought about — gestures like this inspire us to continue giving our best,” said Mbewe.
Building a community, not just a platform
The back-to-school initiative forms part of Yango Food’s continued commitment to building a strong, people-centred relationship with its partner courier community. Beyond connecting customers with their favourite restaurants, Yango Food continues to explore practical ways to create positive impact across its wider ecosystem — for partner couriers, restaurants and the communities they serve every day.
