UPND candidate Biyete K. Elijah has been declared duly elected Member of Parliament for Mufulira Constituency after polling 6,185 votes.

The Returning Officer announced the results, confirming Mr. Elijah’s victory.

NRPUP’s Golden Mwila finished second with 5,232 votes. Independent Anna B. Mwitwa was third with 4,736 votes, followed by Socialist Party’s Reagan M. Kashingha with 2,657 votes.

Other candidates were Penelope M. Mwansa – Independent with 2,247 votes, Alex Lwando – RP with 1,973 votes, Chibwana Kunda – OPP with 313 votes, and Christopher Tchakanga – CF with 48 votes.

A total of 24,012 votes were cast, with 621 ballots rejected.
