UKRAINE: MOSCOW PUTS PEACE TALKS ON “DEEP PAUSE”

Peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have entered what the Kremlin describes as a “deep pause,” signaling a major slowdown in diplomatic efforts as fighting continues across the front lines.

“We are continuing our special military operation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, claiming that Russian forces continue to advance on the battlefield. His remarks come despite several recent diplomatic initiatives involving U.S. officials and the Vatican.

Moscow, however, continues to insist on its key demands. Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly seeking Ukraine’s withdrawal from the entire Donetsk region before any ceasefire can be considered—a condition Kyiv has categorically rejected.

Ukrainian authorities are now increasingly preparing for the possibility that the war will continue through the winter, with no immediate breakthrough in sight.

Prisoner exchanges remain one of the few active channels of communication between Moscow and Kyiv, even as broader political and peace negotiations appear to have stalled.

Diplomacy is losing momentum. On the battlefield, however, the war continues.
