President Hakainde Hichilema has thanked Zambians for re-electing him to the country’s highest office, describing the outcome of the 2026 General Elections as a humbling moment and a renewed opportunity to serve the nation.

In a message shared after being declared the winner of the presidential election, Hichilema expressed gratitude for the trust that citizens had once again placed in him.

“Thank you, Zambia. We are truly humbled by the trust you have placed in our hands to hold our nation’s highest office and to be your servant once more,” he said.

The President also praised Zambians for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the election period, saying the country had once again demonstrated its commitment to democracy.

According to Hichilema, the election sent a strong message to the international community about Zambia’s democratic values and its commitment to resolving political differences through the ballot box.

“This election showed the world who we are: a nation of peace, a nation of law and order, and a democratic nation that settles our differences at the ballot box and nowhere else,” he said.

Hichilema reflected on the extensive campaign that took him across all 116 districts of Zambia, where he interacted with citizens in cities, townships, villages and farming communities.

He said the campaign provided an opportunity to witness the challenges facing ordinary citizens and reinforced his administration’s determination to address those concerns.

“Over these months, we travelled to all 116 districts, to our nation’s cities, our compounds, our villages and our farms. We saw first-hand the challenges that our people are facing, and we resolved to work with you to solve these challenges together,” he said.

The President also reached out to citizens who supported opposition candidates, assuring them that his government would continue working to improve the lives of all Zambians regardless of political affiliation.

“To those citizens who preferred the ideas presented by our opponents, we hear you, and we will continue to work for you to ensure that every Zambian benefits from the development we are delivering,” he stated.

Hichilema said one of the most memorable aspects of the campaign was meeting children across the country, adding that his administration remains committed to creating a better future for the next generation.

“As we return to work as your servant, we carry with us the memories of the children we met throughout the campaign, and we commit to building a better Zambia for all of you to inherit,” he said.

The President emphasized that his administration’s priority will now shift from campaigning to delivering meaningful development across all parts of the country.

He pledged to devote all available resources and energy toward improving the lives of citizens through development, unity and cooperation.

“Now we must work harder than ever before to deliver meaningful development for every single Zambian in every corner of our country,” Hichilema said.

He added that Zambia’s progress will depend on citizens working together toward a common purpose.

“We will devote all our energies to development and progress, strengthened by unity, cooperation and our shared purpose as one nation,” he said.

As the country transitions from the election period, Hichilema called on citizens to remain united and continue building a peaceful and prosperous Zambia.

“After a hard-fought campaign, the people have spoken, and we now turn our focus to building even greater peace and prosperity, and we remain One Zambia, One Nation, One People,” he said.

The 2026 General Elections attracted significant local and international attention, with many observers praising Zambia for maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.

With the election now concluded, attention is expected to shift toward the implementation of development policies and the fulfillment of campaign promises made to the Zambian people.
