The construction of the ultra-modern Soloboni Secondary School in Kafue District, being undertaken at a total cost of K19.6 Million is nearing completion.
Kafue District Commissioner, Maurice Hikapulwe, who toured the construction site, expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project.
ZANIS reports that speaking during the tour, Mr Hikapulwe said once completed, the school is expected to accommodate a large number of learners in the district.
“I have toured Soloboni Secondary School which is under construction, and I am impressed with the progress of works. We are all looking forward to its completion as it will cater for a large number of learners in Kafue,” said Mr Hikapulwe.
He added that Kafue residents are eagerly awaiting the completion of the project, which is set to become the district’s largest secondary school.
Meanwhile, Soloboni Secondary School Headteacher, Anthony Samanenga, disclosed that 12 housing units, a school hall, science laboratories, a sick bay, ablution blocks, a library and design and technology laboratories, have been constructed alongside the school infrastructure.
Mr Samanenga said the project is currently in its third and final phase, which focuses on completion works.
And Kafue District Education Board Secretary, Levy Matongo, disclosed that the school project is being funded by the World Bank.
Mr Matongo said the project has reached 90 percent completion, adding that funds for the final phase have already been disbursed.
“Soloboni Secondary School project is under the World Bank and the total cost is K19.6 Million. The project is at 90 percent completion and funds for the final phase have already been disbursed,” said Mr Matongo.
