Russia has officially described NATO as an alliance fundamentally hostile to Moscow, accusing the U.S.-led military bloc of pursuing an openly anti-Russian agenda and attempting to prepare for a potential attack against Russia.

Russian officials argue that NATO’s continued military expansion, increased troop deployments, large-scale exercises and military infrastructure near Russia’s borders represent a direct threat to the country’s national security.
