FORMER Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has been appointed Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer.

Hamoonga takes over from Commissioner of Police Mwala Yuyi, who has confirmed his transfer to Lusaka for redeployment.

Prior to the appointment, Hamoonga was serving as Western Province Police Commissioner.

In a farewell message to journalists on the Copperbelt, Yuyi commended the media for the working relationship and asked them to extend the same support to his successor.

“Good afternoon colleagues. It is time to bid farewell to all of you as I have been transferred to Lusaka for redeployment,” Yuyi said. “I will miss all of you for the good working relationship we developed. I hope you are going to render the same support you gave me to my successor, Mr Rae Hamoonga.”
