POSITION: Electrician/Welder REPORTING TO: Transport Supervisor Location: Lusaka Company Name: ZEGA JOB PURPOSE The Electrician/Welder will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, trouble shooting, repairs, welding, fabrication, and related maintenance activities on company facilities. The successful candidate will ensure that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical systems, equipment, wiring, and components. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and machinery. Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and metal repair works as required. Repair and fabricate metal components, brackets, frames, supports, and other structures. Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, and other workshop tools safely. Carry out maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and other operational equipment where applicable. Conduct routine inspections to identify electrical, mechanical, and structural faults. Maintain proper records of repairs, maintenance activities, and materials used. Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition. Comply with all company health and safety procedures and applicable aviation and workplace safety requirements. Report major faults, safety concerns, and equipment defects to the supervisor or relevant manager. Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 School Certificate. Craft Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Welding/Fabrication, or a related field. Relevant trade certification will be an added advantage. Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant practical experience as an Electrician, Welder, or in a combined electrical/welding maintenance role. Experience in equipment, workshop, industrial, or aviation-related maintenance will be an added advantage. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Good knowledge of electrical safety procedures and welding practices. Ability to use electrical testing equipment and workshop tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. KEY COMPETENCIES Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good welding and fabrication skills. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements. Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Reliability, discipline, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts when operationally required.
