The United States government has sent Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Frank Garcia Jr. to attend President Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration.



Assistant Secretary Garcia joins heads of state and other government representatives at today’s ceremony at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Washington’s presence at the ceremony underlines continued confidence in President Hichilema’s leadership.

“Assistant Secretary Garcia is in Zambia for the presidential inauguration of President Hakainde Hichilema. In their conversation today, Assistant Secretary Garcia and President Hakainde Hichilema discussed shared priorities, including expanding trade and investment, advancing regional peace and security, and increasing the self-reliance of Zambia’s health system.”
