THE Zambia Police Service said Monday it is conducting intelligence-led security risk assessments at selected key government premises across the country.

In a statement dated Aug. 24, Inspector General of Police Graphel C. Musamba said the preventive operations are being carried out in collaboration with other law enforcement and security agencies. He said the aim is to safeguard government institutions, public officers and members of the public, and to identify vulnerabilities that could threaten public safety or government functions. The assessments are taking place at premises under the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, National Prosecution Authority, Attorney General’s Chambers and other selected government departments and institutions. Musamba said the exercise is not targeted at any individual or group. He described it as part of ongoing measures to strengthen protection at critical government premises and ensure the safety of persons and property. “The operations are being conducted professionally, lawfully, and in coordination with security and law enforcement agencies,” the statement said. The police urged members of the public to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel and comply with instructions. The service said further information will be provided as the exercise continues.
