180 ViewsPresidential Candidate and former Zambian Intelligence Services boss Xavier Chungu’s house being searched.
The police are currently at Xavier Chungu’s home going through his office documents. They are clearly fishing for information, having probably found nothing wrong with his interviews.
This comes after the police picked him up earlier this morning for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi confirmed the development, stating that further details would be communicated in due course.
However, no additional information regarding the nature of the investigation was immediately disclosed.
The latest development comes shortly after Chungu made public remarks in a series of media interviews addressing longstanding allegations linked to corruption and intelligence operations.
During the interviews, Chungu argued that LP officers tasked with carrying out state assignments should not automatically be viewed as morning, police had not announced any formal charges against Chungu or issued further comment on the matter.
In other news, secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has directed that appropriate action be taken against all public officers who participated in political activities without formally resigning before May 15, 2026, and are still serving in Government offices.
Kangwa said the officers had violated the Public Service Code of Ethics, commonly known as the Red Book, and must comply with the earlier circular issued by Cabinet Office.
He explained that the circular was aimed at protecting the integrity and impartiality of the Public Service as it implements Government programmes before, during and after elections.
Kangwa made the remarks in Lusaka when he officially opened the fifth Senior Public Service Management Meeting.
He further urged Permanent Secretaries to remain neutral in the execution of their duties and ensure that all actions taken are properly documented.
