7 ViewsThe National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) Presidential advisor Dr Chris Zumani Zimba has warned against challenging the presidential election results in court describing it as a big mistake.
He instead called for dialogue saying that is the best foot forward.
“With such fire, petitioning Presidential Results Will Be a Big mistake!” He said.
Zimba distanced himself from the such a move.
“As for me as Tonse Alliance Founder, SG & Chief Advisor, l will NOT be PART of it.
“Let dialogue, healing, peace & reconciliation reign now to serve many detained & hiding!,” he added.
His sentiments comes after NRPUP presidential candidate in the just ended general elections Brian Mundubile vowed to mount a legal challenge as he reject the results.
Mundubile rejects 2026 presidential election results
He cited irregularities in the electoral process, saying the outcome did not mirror the will of the Zambian people.
This was after the Electoral Commission of Zambia declared President Hakainde Hichilema as the duly elected President following the polls.
According to consolidated results from all the 226 constituencies President Hichilema representing the ruling UPND, obtained 2,965,326 votes while Mundubile got 1,856,217.
However, Mundubile said the party documented alleged discrepancies involving ballot security, transportation and handling of electoral materials, as well as differences between figures recorded at polling stations and those later announced.
Mundubile said via a statement that the NRPUP will submit its evidence to the relevant legal institutions within the prescribed period.
Official Statement from the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance
19 August 2026
The Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance has reaffirmed that Hon. Brian Mundubile and Hon. Makebi Zulu will challenge the disputed 2026 election results through legal and constitutional means.
The Alliance says it has documented serious concerns, including alleged ballot security violations, ballot stuffing, problems in the transportation and handling of electoral materials, and differences between results recorded at polling stations and those later announced at the National Totalling Centre.
The Alliance has also raised concerns about the alleged involvement of security forces at totalling centres and claims that important election documents were confiscated.
According to the Alliance, failing to challenge these issues would amount to betraying the millions of Zambians who voted for Brian Mundubile.
The Alliance says the courts provide the proper constitutional avenue for addressing these concerns and determining whether the election results reflected the will of the people.
It has also condemned alleged harassment, arrests, detentions and raids involving its officials, saying such actions could interfere with the collection of evidence and preparation of the legal challenge.
The Alliance has called on its members and supporters to remain calm, peaceful and steadfast while the legal process takes its course.
