A medical specialist has warned against the practice of enlarging male reproductive organs using creams or pills, revealing that the substance may cause more harm than good.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Zambian Business Times-ZBT, Dr. Mwiya Silishebo said men should stop falling for products promising to transform their manhood overnight because, in reality, most of them do not increase the male reproductive organ size at all.

According to Dr. Silishebo, some unregulated creams and pills  may contain substances similar to phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, the same class of drugs that includes sildenafil, commonly known as Viagra.

He explained that such substances can increase blood flow to the reproductive area, making it appear larger temporarily.

“So you, as you are applying, will notice that it will become a bit big in that moment. You think as if it has increased in size. It has not,” Dr. Silishebo said.

Dr. Silishebo warned that because the products are not properly regulated, their effects can spread beyond the intended area and cause blood vessels throughout the body to dilate. This can result in a dangerous drop in blood pressure, which he said can, in severe cases, be fatal.

And if death was not enough of a reason to abandon the “bigger is better” mission, repeated use of the creams can also cause allergic reactions and inflammation of the reproductive organ.

According to the medical professional, repeated irritation can result in small injuries that eventually form scars, which may become painful and cause complications during sexual activity. He said some men who have used such creams have later presented at the hospital with erectile dysfunction after other possible causes had been ruled out.

Dr. Silishebo further warned that some men aggressively manipulate or massage the male region while applying the products, putting themselves at risk of serious injury, including penile fracture.

He said pornography has contributed to distorted expectations about what a normal male reproductive organ should look like. Dr. Silishebo explained that the male reproductive organ generally reaches its adult size by around the age of 21, meaning that the size a man has by that stage is generally the size he will retain.

He also pointed out that micropenis is a genuine medical condition involving an unusually small penis, although it is rare. For men who genuinely believe they have a problem, Dr. Silishebo’s advice is simple: stop experimenting with suspicious creams and visit a health facility.

Medical professionals can assess whether the reproductive organ is actually unusually small and advise on appropriate treatment where necessary. And perhaps most importantly, Dr. Silishebo says men should stop believing that size automatically equals sexual greatness. “Sex is not an activity of size. It’s an activity of intellect,” he emphasized.
