PARAGUAYAN SENATE CONDEMNS RACIST REMARKS AGAINST MBAPPÉ.

The Paraguayan Senate has officially condemned racist remarks made by Senator Celeste Amarilla against France captain Kylian Mbappé.

Following nearly five hours of debate on July 9, 2026, lawmakers adopted a motion reaffirming the Senate’s total rejection of racism and all forms of discrimination, stressing that Amarilla’s comments do not reflect the institution’s position.

The controversy erupted after the senator made a series of racist comments targeting Mbappé following France’s Round of 16 victory at the FIFA World Cup.

Reacting to the attacks, Mbappé described the remarks as “despicable” and “unworthy of someone holding public office.”

The comments have also been condemned by the Paraguayan government, French authorities, and several international organizations, while the Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the matter.
