Although he could not clearly state the actual commencement date for mining, he revealed that so far machines have been ordered in readiness for the project.
“We are yet to start mining operations; we are assessing to see the viability of the mine before we invest because you can invest $1 million and then you lose out on all the resources,” Chewe emphasized.
When asked about the coverage of exploration, he said “our area is large-scale and it is about 750 hectares; it is quite big, and we have divided it into four options: there is the eastern, western, northern, and southern.
We are doing IP and magnetics using drones; it is quite big, and we have divided it into four options: there is the eastern one, the western one, the northern one, and the southern one.” He said the company is conducting full-scale, ongoing ground exploration on three of its licences in Zambia, including Large Scale Exploration Licence 38621-HQ-LEL in Chisamba District (7,459.87 ha, granted 12 November 2024, active).
“Our program — diamond drilling, trenching, geophysical surveying, and systematic sampling — is carried out entirely in-house with our own drill rig, equipment, and technical team.” Chewe emphasized that the company remains in exploration and has not established when, or whether, production will commence adding that that decision will be made only when exploration results justify it.
