ALEXANDER Chiteme has been elected Member of Parliament for Nkana Constituency after securing 19,344 votes in last Thursday’s election.

Chiteme, who lost the seat in the 2021 general election, made a comeback to Parliament after defeating three other candidates.

The NRPUP candidate was followed by UPND’s Francis Mukuka with 9,359 votes. Independent candidates Elice Muchindu and David Chewa finished third and fourth with 2,040 and 502 votes respectively.

The Nkana Returning Officer said 31,830 votes were cast, with 585 ballots rejected as invalid.

In his victory statement, Mr. Chiteme said his priority would be to continue from where he left off in 2021, when he lost the seat to Binwell Mpundu.
