A 41-YEAR-OLD woman of Choma District in Southern Province, is nursing serious wounds after she was allegedly battered by her 46-year-old husband, who is a serving Zambia Police Officer.
Southern Province Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo tells TV Yatu’s #Noel Iyombwa that the suspect allegedly turned physically violent following a domestic dispute with his dear wife.
Namalongo says the incident occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026 around 18:00 hours at the couple’s home in Kamunza Compound in Choma.
He shares that, neighbours who heard a prolonged confrontation and cry of the woman, intervened and stopped the fight.
Namalongo tells TV Yatu that the victim’s 66-year-old mother, formally reported the matter to Choma Central Police Station around 19:00 hours, the same day.

He says the victim sustained a cut on the forehead, a swollen face, and general body pains.
“The Zambia Police Service strongly condemns all acts of gender-based violence and assures members of the public that this matter will be thoroughly and impartially investigated in accordance with the law,” Namalongo shares.
He adds: “The Service will not shield any officer found wanting and will ensure that anyone found culpable is dealt with in accordance with the law.”
He says the suspect has not yet been arrested, as thorough investigations into the incident, are underway.
