UPND Zambezi Central parliamentary candidate Dennis Maano has successfully filed a petition in the High Court challenging the election of Raphael Ngimbu as Member of Parliament.
Maano filed the petition at the Lusaka High Court on Thursday morning.
Speaking to journalists shortly after filing, Maano cited electoral malpractice, violence and voter intimidation among the grounds challenging the election of Ngimbu.
The UPND candidate appealed to his supporters and residents of Zambezi Central to remain calm as the legal process unfolds.
“I appeal to my supporters and the people of Zambezi Central to remain calm and peaceful during this process,” Maano added.
Ngimbu also expressed that justice would prevail.
