POLICE are investigating the sudden death of a 25-year-old woman, identified as Lisa Mutambo, the Zambia Police Service said Thursday..

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha said the report was received at Chelstone Police Station at around 09:30 hours on August 20. The incident is reported to have occurred between 03:30 and 04:30 hours at Victoria Hospital.

According to police, on August 19 at around 20:30 hours, Mutambo was with two female friends at a hotel in Lusaka where she worked as a brand ambassador. At around 22:30 hours, the three went to another drinking place in the city.

Police said Mutambo’s boyfriend, identified as Caleb Lisa, also known as Andrea, picked up the women between 02:30 and 03:00 hours on August 20. He dropped the two friends in the Minestone/Casanova area and went home with Mutambo to Kalundu, where they reportedly lived.

It is alleged that upon arrival at their residence, Mutambo began vomiting and became unconscious. Her boyfriend contacted a friend who helped take her to Victoria Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police processed both the primary and secondary scenes. The body was taken to FSG Mortuary and later transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem. No physical injuries were observed on the body.

Kaitisha said an inquiry file has been opened and investigations are ongoing. Police said further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
