UNITED Party for National Development candidate Stanley K. Kakubo has been declared the duly elected Member of Parliament for Kapiri Mposhi West.

Kakubo said he is the first parliamentarian since the re-introduction of multiparty democracy in 1991 to have been elected twice to the Kapiri Mposhi seat.

“I do not take this distinction for granted, as it belongs to the people of Kapiri Mposhi,” Kakubo said in a statement.

He paid tribute to his predecessors: Hon. Henry Shamabanse, Hon. Johnny P. Chafwa, Hon. Gabriel Maka, Hon. MacDonald Nkabika, Hon. John Mwaimba, Hon. Friday Malwa, Hon. Lawrence Zimba and Hon. Eddie Musonda, saying their service forms an important part of the constituency’s history.

Having served the entire Kapiri Mposhi in his first two terms, Kakubo said he is grateful that following the delimitation of the constituency, the people of Kapiri Mposhi West elected him for a third time.

“With the election now behind us, I embrace the responsibility to serve every citizen of Kapiri Mposhi West, including every voter whose support I was honored to receive and those whose votes I did not manage to obtain,” he said. “I will serve all our people with fairness, respect and full commitment.”

Kakubo thanked President Hakainde Hichilema, the UPND, communities and voters for their trust. He also thanked his wife, Netta, and their children, Themba, Zanele, Amanda and Milo, for their support.

He extended respect to all candidates who contested, saying they gave voters a choice and that residents share a responsibility to develop Kapiri Mposhi West.
