Kabwe defeats Mumba to win Kantanshi seat

FORMER DMMU National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe has won the Kantanshi parliamentary seat, defeating incumbent Anthony Mumba of the UPND.

Contesting on the Resolute Party ticket, Mr. Kabwe polled 10,473 votes in the four-candidate race, according to results declared by the ECZ.

Mr. Mumba, who was seeking re-election, received 8,391 votes. Zambia Must Prosper candidate Maggie Musonda got 432 votes, while Charles Banda finished with 430 votes.

A total of 19,989 votes were cast, with 263 ballots spoiled.

Speaking after the declaration, Mr. Kabwe said: “I feel very excited. The people have spoken, people have chosen and have given me the opportunity to represent them.”
