ISRAELI PRESIDENT SAYS HE “FEELS DEEP PAIN” OVER GAZA CIVILIAN DEATHS, SPARKING QUESTIONS OVER RESPONSIBILITY
The President of Israel has told Al Arabiya that he feels deep sadness and personal pain over the deaths of Palestinians and innocent civilians in Gaza, adding that the people of Gaza have the right to live a better and more secure life.
The remarks have drawn strong reactions, with critics questioning who is responsible for the ongoing civilian suffering and deaths in Gaza, arguing that Israel’s military operations have been the main cause of widespread destruction and casualties in the territory.
The Israeli government has repeatedly stated that its military campaign is aimed at targeting Hamas and preventing further attacks against Israel, while critics and international organizations have accused Israel of using disproportionate force and causing severe harm to civilians.
The statement has once again highlighted the central dispute surrounding the Gaza war: the balance between Israel’s security claims and international demands for the protection of Palestinian civilians and their right to safety, dignity, and a normal life.
