Israel Alarmed by Potential S-400 Transfer That Could Reshape Middle East Airpower

Israel is reportedly concerned over a potential deal that could see Türkiye’s Russian-made S-400 air-defense systems transferred to Egypt, according to a report published by Israeli platform Natziv Net.

The report warns that the deployment of Turkish S-400 systems in Egypt could strengthen Cairo’s air-defense capabilities and potentially restrict the freedom of action of the Israeli Air Force in the region.

At the same time, Türkiye could potentially move closer to resolving its dispute with Washington over the Russian system, opening the possibility of Ankara eventually returning to the F-35 fighter program.

If such a transfer were to take place, it could mark a significant shift in the strategic balance over the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East: Egypt would gain an advanced long-range air-defense capability, while Türkiye could strengthen its position in the Western fighter-jet ecosystem.

The reported scenario remains a potential deal rather than a confirmed transfer, but it is already drawing attention because of its possible implications for regional air superiority and Israel’s freedom of operation.
