EPP president Chilufya Tayali has revealed that he was privately forgiven by his plaintiffs prior to his return to his home country after years of seeking asylum.
In an engagement with the Ballot who sought to know whether any of the plaintiffs had come out in public to acknowledge and accept his apology in the same manner he apologized publicly, Mr. Tayali said the plaintiffs didn’t have to make their forgiveness public because they were not accountable to the public.
“They don’t have to [make their forgiveness public because], they are not accountable to you. They made decisions to go to court without announcing, so why ask him to come to the public now?”, he questioned.
Recently, Mr. Tayali apologized to His Royal Highness Chief Mukuni for making statements that drew the Chief into the issue of the gassing incidents. He also apologized to fellow Bembas for saying, “Us Bembas are useful idiots.”
Additionally, Mr. Chilufya apologized to men and women in uniform for making statements that drew them into political discourse, particularly concerning their emoluments.
And lastly, the EPP leader apologised to President Hakainde Hichilema, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and to all members of the defence and security services, including the people of Zambia for the remarks that lee to his lawsuit.
