PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to construct bridges to connect island communities in Lunga District and deliver more government infrastructure to the Luapula Province district.

Hichilema said the government will build a district hospital and a boarding school in Lunga as part of continued development efforts.

“Lunga District in Luapula Province will be developed. Bridges will be constructed to connect our people who live on the islands,” Hichilema wrote. “More government infrastructures will continue being delivered to Lunga.”

The president emphasized national unity, saying “We are One Zambia, One Nation and One People” and called for peace.

Hichilema urged residents to vote for the ruling party in the August election to “continue changing the face of this part of our Country.”

He closed the message in Bemba: “Mwebena Lunga, twalimitemwa sana. Nakabili Lesa amipale,” meaning “People of Lunga, we love you very much. Again, God bless you.”
