ZIMBABWE DEPORTS Jay Jay Banda and Kaizer Zulu
The presence of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at President Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration yesterday has brought a long standing diplomatic standstill to an end with former Patriotic Front (PF) members figures who sought refuge in Zimbabwe being handed back to the Zambian government to face the law.
Jay Jay Banda, who has been linked to allegations of plotting destabilisation and a coup against the Zambian Government, has been staying in Zimbabwe after fleeing Zambia.
Banda’s reported presence in Zimbabwe has long attracted attention in Zambia, particularly amid allegations surrounding attempts to undermine constitutional order.
The latest diplomatic engagement between Lusaka and Harare is therefore being closely watched, with expectations growing that Zimbabwe will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for activities aimed at destabilising Zambia.
Attention is also turning to former Patriotic Front strongman Kaizer Zulu, who is similarly reported to be in Zimbabwe.
Palm TV- Digital is awaiting official statements from police IG and Interpol.
