Government has declared Tuesday, September 1st 2026, a public holiday to facilitate the swearing-in-ceremony of the President-elect and Vice President-elect.
Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa, says the ceremony will be held at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Tuesday, September 1st 2026.
In a statement made available to the media, Mr Kangwa said the declaration follows an earlier announcement made on August 25, 2026, confirming the date and venue for the ceremony.
“In this regard, the President has declared Tuesday, 1st September 2026, the day of the swearing-in ceremony, as a public holiday,” Mr Kangwa said.
He further said to avoid any inconvenience, all invitees to the ceremony are encouraged to consider car pooling due to limited parking space at the stadium.
