For nearly four years, Morgan Muunda has remained active on the ground, building relationships with communities and promoting the vision and leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.

His political journey has taken him well beyond Chawama, reaching communities across all nine provinces of Zambia.

From urban centres to some of the country’s deepest rural communities, Muunda has travelled with his campaign and media teams, engaging citizens and sharing his understanding of the UPND government’s development agenda.

His work has included community engagements, youth mobilisation, support for women, churches and interaction with traditional and community leaders.

In Southern Province, where President Hichilema comes from, Muunda has also remained visible around various presidential engagements, traditional ceremonies, project commissioning activities and other programmes associated with the President’s national agenda.

But his commitment to Chawama has remained an important part of that journey.

Over the years, Muunda has invested time and resources in engaging young people, women and different community groups in the constituency. His approach has largely centred on remaining accessible and maintaining contact with people at grassroots level.

Political journeys, however, are rarely straightforward.

Muunda has experienced both opportunities and setbacks along the way, including the disappointment of not securing the desired outcome in previous political contests. Yet he has continued to participate in community and political activities rather than withdrawing from public life.

His recent decision to congratulate Abel Nga’ndu following the Chawama election outcome has also placed renewed attention on his approach to politics.

Rather than allowing political differences to define his next chapter, Muunda has publicly recognised Nga’ndu’s victory and expressed his willingness to see Chawama move forward.

For supporters, that gesture reflects loyalty to the wider UPND project and President Hichilema. For others, it may simply be viewed as an acknowledgement of the democratic outcome.

Either way, Muunda’s political record over the past four years remains defined by one consistent feature:

HE HAS STAYED ON THE GROUND.

His supporters describe him as a committed believer in President Hichilema’s vision, while his political journey continues to evolve within the wider UPND movement.

From Chawama to the nine provinces, his message has remained largely consistent — engage the people, support development and keep working.

At a time when political differences can easily create divisions, Muunda’s decision to continue engaging with the party, the President and the communities he has served gives his political journey another dimension.

Whether the future takes him back to Chawama politics or into another chapter of national mobilisation, the years spent on the ground have already formed a significant part of his political identity.

For Muunda, the work continues.
