POLICE in Nakonde District have detained four women in connection with an alleged aggravated assault case that occurred on July 13, 2026. Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, the incident took place between 11:00 and 12:00 hours in Mulenda area of Nakonde District. The matter was reported at Nakonde Police Station on July 15, 2026

POLICE in Nakonde District have detained four women in connection with an alleged aggravated assault case that occurred on July 13, 2026.

Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, the incident took place between 11:00 and 12:00 hours in Mulenda area of Nakonde District.

The matter was reported at Nakonde Police Station on July 15, 2026 around 17:00 hours by a 23-year-old woman of Ntindi area.

She alleged that she was assaulted by four women using a stick and was slapped, resulting in physical injuries.

She further alleged that she was threatened and that the incident was recorded on video without her consent.

Following investigations, police detained the following suspects: Diana Mukelebai, aged 40, a police officer based in Nakonde, Judith Nangoi, aged 42, Mervis Nakamba, aged 26 and Lister Nachamba, aged 38

Police issued the complainant with a medical report form and referred her to Nakonde Urban Health Centre for medical examination and treatment.

In addition to aggravated assault, the suspects may face further charges under the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025 in connection with the alleged recording and possible distribution of an explicit video without the complainant’s consent.

“The Zambia Police Service reiterates its zero tolerance for Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and those found culpable will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law, regardless of their status, position, or background,” Mr. Chilabi said.

Investigations are ongoing.
